From the elegance of a simple white cake with a touch of fresh florals to the bespoke show stopping art piece, small or large, they all have a place in, and piece of my heart.

How do I Enquire?

Where are you located & do you deliver?Anna Louise Cakes is located in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North. For collections an address will be provided on confirmation of collection time. Please ensure you are on time to pick up your cake. Yes I can deliver. For cakes two tiers high or taller its is my preference that I deliver these for you. Additional delivery fees may apply. For wedding cakes I service the greater Manawatu, Wairarapa, Kapiti & Horowhenua area.

What icing do you use?My go to is Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Its silky smooth and not at all grainy like other frostings. I think it tastes a little like soft serve ice cream. Wedding cakes can often be a mixture of the above and ganache. The addition of ganache to a wedding cake provides a little more stability especially during the summer when the wedding cakes are on display. I’m also a fan of fondant where the occasion calls for it. Anything goes really!
-
How should I store my cake?Buttercream cakes need to be stored in the fridge. I recommend bringing it out of the fridge 1 ½ - 2 hours before serving to allow it to come up to room temperature. If you don’t have enough room in your fridge after collection, somewhere cool and away from any direct heat source. Return any left over cake back to the fridge. It’ll keep up to 5 days in an airtight container (depending on the filling) or 3 months in the freezer.
-
How much are your cakes? There's so may variables in each cake, especially custom ones, that can influence a cakes price. Check out the underlined links to help assist you. For pre-set designs with a small amount of customisation see here (these are also the most budget friendly) COMING SOON! For custom cakes including wedding cakes, check out our price guide here For more accurate pricing fill in the contact form here with as much detail as you can so I can provide you with a quote.

When should I place my order?Online orders from our store can be placed with as little as three days’ notice. For a full custom designed cake, including wedding cakes, I recommend getting in touch as soon as you have a date in mind as some dates can fill up faster than others.
-
Can you accommodate last minute orders?I have an online range here that are perfect for that last minute cake. If the date you want is unavailable check for availability the day before. Provided you have space in your fridge they keep perfectly fine overnight. For full custom cakes, if the date is available I can usually accommodate, but please bare in mind that some design features may be unavailable such as custom acrylic or fondant toppers or any special buy in products, and yes I have been known to throw a wedding cake together with minimal notice too!

Do you make gluten free cakes?Short answer, yes I can make cakes with a gluten free flour blends instead of wheat flour. Fillings & decorations can be adapted to suit. Long answer, wheat is my bestie for cakes and baking, and is handled in my kitchen on the daily. Whilst I am more than happy to swap out my buddy wheat flour for a Gluten Free blend, please remember trace elements are always a risk. Therefore I cannot offer any guarantee of "Gluten Free" goods, only that it is gluten “friendly”. Please note, some of my ingredients have disclaimers on their packaging warning of the presence of gluten trace elements.
-
What about other allergens? Please let me know at the time of booking if you have any dietary needs that need catering to, I can adapt to suit most. BUT...My kitchen is not an allergen free zone and ALL allergens are handled in there at some stage or another, most often daily. Whilst the highest due diligence is applied when making your allergen friendly treats to avoid any risk of cross contamination, please be aware that those sneaky trace elements may be lurking. A lot of my ingredients also have disclaimers on their labels advising of the potential for trace elements at their end too, something those with food intolerances and allergies are all too familiar with. In cases where the cake or catering will be eaten by someone who has the risk of anaphylaxis to certain ingredients, I may say no to your order. Please don’t be offended if I cannot accommodate you, your health and safety is more important to me than any sale.
-
Do you offer vegan cakes or catering?I certainly do. There'll be a dedicated vegan section coming to my website soon, but for now when sending an enquiry just let me know that you require a vegan cake or catering and we can go from there. Fun fact, other than a sneaky piece of cake or an arancini ball here and there (the two reasons I don't call myself a vegan), I eat a plant based diet! Vegan treats and cooking is something I make on the daily and a passion of mine.
-
Is your kitchen registered?Yes, I am a home based food business and registered with the Palmerston North City Council. I have to follow all the same rules and regulations in my home based kitchen as your favourite cafe or food supplier. This includes a sound understanding of the current food safety legislation & record keeping.
-
I would like a cake topper, is this something you can assist with?I certainly can, simply let me know what you after at the time of booking and I can source for you. Please note, if you are making a last minute booking not all options may be available to you due to time restraints.
-
I've sent you an enquiry but haven't heard back?My busiest days are Wednesday to Saturday so I tend to be a little slower on those days. I aim to reply within four days, but If its been a week or longer please send me another email as I may not have received your first one. If you are awaiting a response from me and it’s been a minute, please check your email's junk folder, for some reason my emails like to hang out in there.

What are your T's and C's?For all custom celebration cakes and catering a non refundable and non transferable deposit is required to confirm your booking and secure your date. Single tier custom cakes will incur a $50 deposit and multi tiered and wedding cakes a $150 deposit. Deposits for catering are 30% of total cost. Your booking is not considered confirmed until a deposit has been received. The final balance is due 7 days prior to cake or catering collection or delivery day. If booking less than 14 days prior to cake day, full payment will be required upon booking. Once your order is confirmed with a deposit, the purchasing of specialty ingredients and/or decorations specific to your requirements will commence. For this reason in the case of cancellation the original deposit will be forfeited by you and retained by us. If for whatever reason you cancel your cake or catering after the final balance has been paid no refund will be given. In some cases, depending on the proximity to cake or catering day and how much prep has already been completed, a transfer of date may be applicable. This may incur additional charges outside of your quoted price if items with short shelf lives need replacing. No design changes will be permitted. In the absolute rare instance in which we need to cancel an order where circumstances are beyond our control such as natural disaster and no other solution can be found, you will be refunded.
